Department of Zoology, NSS College, Manjeri came into being with the commencement of Pre-degree course in 1965. The undergraduate course in Zoology was offered in 1969 and till date (2018-19) 47 batches graduated from the department. The Department strives for academic excellence in teaching and research in Zoology and allied subjects. The Department offers three year undergraduate course in Zoology and provide an encouraging intellectual environment including seminars, field trips and a large number of outreach programmes.
Situated in South Malabar of Kerala, we are in easy reach of diverse habitats including the mountain ranges of Western Ghats and the coastal regions. Thus excellent opportunities exist to work in diversified environments. BSc. Zoology is the main course with Botany and Chemistry as subsidiary subjects. We have excellent faculty in the department to take care of each student individually. The department has a well equipped laboratory for undergraduate students in their academic aspirations.
The department focuses all round development of the students. It has formed well equipped lab and museum to encourage them their activation. The department assumes the quality in up gradation of all aspects of teaching learning process. The department aims in imparting best education steeped in the value based higher education. Since inception, the department has been relentlessly serving the students by systematic monitoring in all their curricular and extracurricular activities.
